Accessibility Statement
The Sarina Russo Group website has been designed with accessibility in mind, ensuring an inclusive experience for all users. We regularly review and update our site to enhance usability and adhere to current accessibility standards. Our approach is based on the Australian Government’s guidelines, which align with the WCAG 2.2 AA standards and the Disability Discrimination Act of 1992. Our audit has been performed against these WCAG 2.2 standards, covering all levels of WCAG 2.2 conformance (including Level A, AA & AAA). By addressing the audit findings, we ensure that our site meets high standards for web accessibility.
Accessibility Conformance
The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 provide a framework for making web content more accessible to people with disabilities, including those with visual, auditory, cognitive, and physical impairments. WCAG is organised into four principles: Perceivable, Operable, Understandable, and Robust, which form the foundation for accessibility.
To meet these principles, WCAG includes guidelines, success criteria, and techniques. Success criteria are testable and help ensure compliance with accessibility standards, with three levels of conformance: A (lowest), AA, and AAA (highest). Sarina Russo Group aims to meet Level AAA of the WCAG 2.2 guidelines, ensuring our website is accessible to the widest range of users and adheres to best practices for inclusivity.
Web accessibility audit finding
As of 11 October, Sarina Russo Group completed a comprehensive Web Accessibility Audit conducted by Enterprise Monkey. The audit evaluated the website’s compliance with WCAG 2.2 standards and the Australian Government’s Digital Service Standard, outlining both strengths and areas for improvement.
Key positive findings
- Strong Compliance with Media Accessibility Requirements: The website successfully integrates captions, audio descriptions, and media alternatives, ensuring that time-based content is accessible to users with hearing impairments.
- Readability and Text Adaptability: Most readability and text resizing standards are met, making content clear and adaptable for users with vision impairments.
- Consistent Use of Headings and Labels: Well-structured headings and navigation labels enhance navigability and provide robust support for screen reader users.
Key areas for improvement
- Form Field Accessibility: Some form fields were not properly announced to screen readers, limiting usability for individuals with visual impairments.
- Colour Contrast Issues: Several design elements did not meet required contrast ratios, reducing readability for users with low vision or colour blindness.
- Keyboard Navigation: Focus indicators and logical focus order required improvement to ensure seamless navigation for keyboard users.
- Screen Reader Compatibility: Certain key elements, such as heading levels and status messages, were not consistently announced to screen readers.
Commitment to accessibility
The Sarina Russo Group’s website demonstrates notable strengths in media accessibility, readability, and structural consistency, showing significant alignment with WCAG 2.2 standards.
